Endrick Felipe’s Childhood Story
Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa was born on July 21, 2006, in Taguatinga, Brazil, to Cíntia Moreira and Douglas Sousa. He is the eldest of two children, with a brother named Noah. From an early age, Endrick grew up in a home full of love and support, values passed on by his parents and family.
Endrick spent his childhood in Taguatinga, in the Federal District of Brasília, alongside his younger brother, Noah. The two share a strong bond, with Endrick taking on a protective and caring role, often taking Noah to celebrations of his soccer victories.
Endrick’s first steps in football
Endrick started playing soccer when he was four years old. His father, Douglas Sousa, posted his son’s goals on YouTube , a video-based social network, and sought out interested players from major Brazilian clubs. When he was eight, Endrick was playing for Brasília Fut Academy, a local team that had a partnership with São Paulo ; the São Paulo team eventually invited the forward to live in the club’s lodgings. However, the deal fell through after São Paulo refused Douglas’s request for the club to provide him with housing or a job in the capital.
Endrick’s story At club Palmeiras
Douglas then returned to posting videos on the internet of Endrick’s performances in the Go Cup (a children’s tournament with teams from around the world), in which he scored seventeen goals in seven games. The publication reached Palmeiras , which, through director João Paulo Sampaio, invited Endrick for a week of testing. The boy was approved and moved with his parents to the capital of São Paulo, joining the Palmeiras under-11 team; the club gave Douglas a job as a cleaning assistant at the club. During the five years he was in the youth categories , he scored 161 goals in 188 games.
At the age of fifteen, Endrick helped Palmeiras win the 2022 São Paulo Junior Football Cup . In the tournament, he scored five goals in five games; in the game against ASSU he scored his first goal and also became the youngest Palmeiras player to score a goal in the tournament. In the final against Santos , he was responsible for opening the scoring. At the end of the championship he received the awards for best player and most beautiful goal.
Endrick’s first professional contract
On July 21, 2022, the day he turned sixteen, Endrick signed his first professional contract with Palmeiras, with an initial validity of three years and a release clause of sixty million euros (approximately 334 million reais , at the time). On July 29, the striker was registered for the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores da América , receiving the number sixteen shirt. On September 18, Endrick was named in the squad for the first time by coach Abel Ferreira . The striker was on the bench in the 1–0 victory against Santos , valid for the 27th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro .
Endrick made his professional debut on October 6, in Palmeiras’ 4–0 victory over Coritiba at Allianz Parque in the Campeonato Brasileiro. At sixteen years, two months and fifteen days, he became the youngest player to play professionally for Palmeiras. His first two goals for Alviverde were scored on October 25, in a 3–1 victory over Athletico Paranaense at Arena da Baixada in the Campeonato Brasileiro. With this, Endrick became the youngest player in Palmeiras’ history to score a goal as a professional.
The striker scored again on November 2, when he started in the 4–0 win against Fortaleza at Allianz Parque, which ended with the celebration of the Brazilian Championship title. With the victory, Endrick became the first player in the history of the club to be champion in all categories, from U-11 to Professional.
2023
In February 2023, he was the winner of the first edition of the Samba de Ouro Sub-20 (awarded to the best Brazilian player under the age of 20) with 28.4% of the votes, beating Matheus França and Vitor Roque , who got 10.7% and 10.1% of the votes, respectively. In April, Endrick scored the third goal in Palmeiras’ 4–0 win over Água Santa , in the second leg of the Campeonato Paulista final , and helped the team win the 25th state tournament in its history.
He was left on the bench during the period after the Campeonato Paulista final , until the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores , where the team suffered a penalty shootout elimination to Boca Juniors . In a scenario where only the Brasileirão remained to be won that year, Endrick took over as a starter after a change in tactics. The player was the essential element in Palmeiras’ 12th Brazilian title, having scored six goals in the last eight Brasileirão games .
The young striker scored in the 1–0 triumph over Athletico Paranaense, in the 3–0 victory over Internacional , in the 4–0 rout against América Mineiro , in the 1–1 draw against Cruzeiro , and scored twice in the historic 4–3 comeback against Botafogo , in a game held at the Nilton Santos Stadium . On that occasion, the Rio de Janeiro club took the lead and even opened up a 3–0 lead, but Endrick took responsibility, scoring twice and also having a hand in goals scored by Gustavo Gómez and Flaco López .
Endrick’s last game at Palmeira
His last game for Palmeiras took place in May 2024, in a 0–0 draw against San Lorenzo at Allianz Parque, in the last round of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores da América . On that occasion, the fans made a mosaic for the player before the match.
Endrick’s story at Real Madrid
On December 15, 2022, Palmeiras and Real Madrid announced an agreement for the transfer of Endrick. The value and duration of the contract were not disclosed, but the Brazilian press reported that the value was around 70 million euros (393 million reais, at the time) and that the contract will be valid, in principle, until 2027, with the option to renew for another three years. However, the contract officially came into effect on July 21, 2024, when Endrick turned eighteen years old. If the values are confirmed, the player will become the third biggest sale in the history of Brazilian football .
2024–25
Endrick was officially presented on July 27, receiving the number sixteen shirt.
The forward made his pre-season debut on 31 July, starting and playing for 45 minutes in a friendly against Milan . The match, which was held at Soldier Field in the United States , ended 1–0 to the Rossoneri. His debut and his first goal for Real Madrid in an official match came on 25 August, in the second round of the Spanish Championship ; Endrick came on as a final substitute and scored the last goal in a 3–0 win against Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium . With the goal, the Brazilian became the youngest foreign player (18 years and 35 days) to score for the club in the entire history of La Liga . The record was previously held by defender Raphaël Varane , who had scored against Rayo Vallecano at 18 years and 152 days old.
He made his UEFA Champions League debut on 17 September, coming on as a late substitute and scoring from outside the box in a 3–1 win against Stuttgart at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. In doing so, he became the youngest player to score a goal for Real Madrid in the history of the Champions League, as well as the youngest Brazilian to score in the top European competition, at 18 years and 58 days old.
